You chat with Marcy for a little while, which really perks you up. You try to keep it discreet, but during a pause in Dr Hart's lecture,  your voice carries across the room, and Dr Hart walks over to your desk.

"This is not appropriate," she tells you firmly. "I expect students to involve themselves in the material, and you clearly have not been doing that."

She looks at your notes, and you can tell that she isn't impressed.

"Go to the office after this class. You must face some consequence."

The rest of the class proceeds to be more of the same. You absorb a little bit more than you did from the first half, thanks to the forced diligence that Dr Hart enforces by staring in your direction for the next hour.

In the office, you're assigned a paperwork task. Filing, checking facts against each other, and so on.

You find it demeaning to be punished like this. It's not high school. But you did act out, and you are not about to give up this opportunity.

An office employee starts telling you a very boring story. It spirals and winds, and combined with the tediousness of your task, you struggle to follow. The story starts veering into modern territory, and names of various professors are spouted as if you'd know who they are.
